Marc Matthews:

So at the time this episode goes live, I will be on my summer break in Kos, in Greece, and at the point recording this, it's two weeks before I go. I'm extremely excited. I cannot wait. I've been there before, probably about 10 years ago, and absolutely loved it. I love Kos Old Town and I love Greek food, so cannot wait to go back and actually get some paddleboarding in as well. I don't think paddleboarding was a thing. It probably was, but it wasn't as prominent as it is now back 10 years ago. It might even be longer than 10 years. Either way, I'm incredibly excited and the weather it's 37 degrees over there when I last checked, which is incredibly different to what we have here in the UK where it's overcast, about 20 degrees and raining. Well, it was yesterday. It was like not torrential rain, but heavy rain yesterday, so I cannot wait. So, yeah, at the point of this going live, I will be sunning it up in Greece.

Marc Matthews:

Logic Pro mixing tips for Synthpop producers, artists and musicians. So I've dived into Logic Pro and I'm going to play you now what this project sounds like, before any mixing or processing. This is just the importing of the stems into Logic Pro. So here we go. So now I'm going to play you the final mix. So this is what we are aiming for by the end of this limited series podcast. Sounds much better, right, and that's what you're going to be able to do by the end of this limited series podcast.

Marc Matthews:

So in this limited series podcast, each episode we are going to go through a mixing process. We're going to start with pre-production importing and organization, and then we're going to move on to static balance so setting a static level, and then panning as well and then we're going to move on to each subgroup in turn. We're going to go through drums, we're going to go through bass, and then we're going to do vocals, and then we've got two synth subgroups and then we're going to do effects and then, in the final episode again, we'll do an A-B and we will also just do some mix bus processing. All the while we will be going through the basics of mixing. So this is really the setting, the foundations for a solid mixing framework and then, from this limited series podcast, you can take what you've learned and then augment your knowledge with other tips and tricks that you find along the way in your mixing and music production journey. So we are really looking at the basics of mixing. We're laying that solid foundation for you to kick on and create those professional radio ready mixes.

Marc Matthews:

So this is the shortest episode in this limited series podcast, and at the end of each episode there will be tasks for you to complete. So with these tasks or, for want of a better way of putting it, homework, the idea is you're taking the podcast from entertainment to education. You're going to implement everything you've learned and I highly encourage you to do this Listen to each episode and then watch the accompanying video as well, and in doing so it will help you cement everything that you've learned, that you've listened to, that you've watched, and then you'll be able to implement it in your own project. So your task or homework for this episode, folks, is probably the easiest one of the lot.

Marc Matthews:

I want you to click the link in the episode description and download the free Logic Pro session, the stems for this project, and also the Logic Pro Synth Pop mixing template. And just to emphasize that word, free. There is no gatekeeping, at no point will there be a charge for any of this, so it's all entirely free. Click the link, download all of those free resources so you can follow along with this limited series podcast. And then, once you've done that, I want you to join me in the next episode, episode two, where we will start the mixing process and we'll start with pre-production and setting ourselves up for success. I'll see you there. So there we go, folks. That is episode one of my limited series podcast, logic pro mixing tips for synth pop producers, artists and musicians.
